This work was to study the transcriptome profiles in the skin of chickens with black versus yellow skin using next-generation high-throughput RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq), to investigate the different expression profiles of the genes involved in skin pigmentation, then we analyzed the profiles of gene expression or measured by conventional assays to gain new insights into the mechanisms between black and yellow skin colors in Xichuan Black-bone chicken.
