Camptotheca acuminata is a Nyssaceae plant named happy tree indigenous in southern China. It is famous for the clinical effect on treating various cancers.Despite the importance of happy tree, there is little transcriptome data of this species. In the study, we generated more than 70,000 high-quality reads from young leaves cDNA library constructed from the roots of American ginseng, using of happy tree through the Roche 454-GS FLX Titanium platform of the next generation. We aimed at discovering genes involved in camptothecin biosynthesis.
