Dorsoventral difference in tracheal basal stem cells.. Mus musculus

In the previous study, we showed that proliferation and differentiation of basal stem cells are regulated by mesenchymal cells during repair of airway epithelium. Airway is surrounded by 2 different mesenchyme; namely, cartilages and smooth muscles, which are mainly located at ventral side and dorsal side of trachea, respectively. Thus, we hypothesized that behavior of basal stem cells could be different in ventral side and dorsal side of trachea. Utilizing RNA sequence analysis, we revealed the heterogeneity in the gene expression of basal stem cells.
