This study investigates novel strategies for the control of Botrytis cinerea, a devastating fungal pathogen responsible for gray mold disease in a wide range of economically important crops. Through comparative transcriptomic analysis, we aim to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying plant defense responses and potential fungal vulnerabilities during infection. The goals are to identify key host resistance genes and pathogenicity factors, which could reveal new targets for the development of effective and sustainable disease management approaches, such as resistant cultivars or bio-rational fungicides. This research is highly relevant for securing global food production and reducing current reliance on broad-spectrum chemical controls.
