The column 16S indicates individuals for which a fragment of the 16S rRNA gene has been sequenced and included in the phylogenetic tree (Fig 1). Since the femoral glands in Hylobatrachus are usually poorly recognizable they were excluded from the measurements. The sex of the individuals was determined examination of femoral glands or by incision.
