Over two decades of research has systematically investigated the macroscopic wild fungi (macrofungi) resources in Zhejiang Province, collected a large number of specimens, isolated corresponding strains, analyzed the diversity of fungal resources and their economic significance, conducted research on domestication and artificial cultivation technologies for high-economic-value macrofungi such as Shiraia bambusicola and Oudemansiella radicata, and achieved remarkable economic, social and ecological benefits through industrial promotion.
I. Resource Investigation and Analysis
1. The investigation reveals that Zhejiang Province boasts abundant macrofungal resources, including 513 species belonging to 6 classes and 18 orders under two subphyla: Basidiomycota and Ascomycota, with 210 newly recorded species in Zhejiang Province discovered during the survey.
2. Diversity analysis identifies 136 xylophilous fungi, 9 coprophilous fungi, 221 terricolous fungi, 9 entomopathogenic fungi, 117 ectomycorrhizal fungi, 1 fungal symbiont, 16 folicolous fungi, 1 fungal parasite and 3 plant parasites, demonstrating obvious ecological benefits.
3. The research shows that there are 254 edible fungi species, 213 medicinal fungi species (among which 128 exhibit anti-cancer activities) and 60 poisonous mushroom species, with significant economic implications.
4. The regional distribution and resource profiles of macrofungi in Zhejiang have been clarified, and a large number of wild fungal resources with great development potential have been uncovered, including Oudemansiella radicata, Auricularia auricula-judae, Grifola frondosa, Agrocybe aegerita, Grifola frondosa and Ganoderma lucidum. A total of 1,262 specimens have been prepared and 229 strains have been isolated.
II. Research on Domestication of Excellent Strains and High-yield Cultivation Technology
1. Excellent strains including Oudemansiella radicata CG8601, Xinke Auricularia auricula-judae, Qingyuan Grifola frondosa and Lishui Agrocybe aegerita have been obtained through domestication and breeding, and the variety of Xinke Auricularia auricula-judae has been officially certified.
2. A complete set of technologies for excellent strain domestication and high-yield cultivation has been established, and a series of standards including Yun'ao Auricularia auricula-judae cultivation technical specifications and Auricularia auricula-judae strain production standards (DB332523/T03) have been formulated.
3. A total of 142 specimens of Shiraia bambusicola have been collected and 126 strains have been isolated. The optimal processes for solid-state and liquid-state fermentation have been determined, and the artificially cultivated stroma of Shiraia bambusicola was obtained for the first time.
III. Industrial Promotion and Benefits
Promotion has been implemented in Qingyuan, Yunhe, Songyang, Jingning and other regions, with a cumulative production of 472 million cultivation bags, newly added output value of 1.421 billion yuan and newly added profit of 839 million yuan, yielding remarkable economic benefits. As a major edible fungi production province in China, Zhejiang has obtained basic materials and technical support for upgrading the traditional edible fungi industry and realizing its sustainable development through this project. This initiative not only expands employment channels and increases income for farmers, but also effectively protects the ecological environment by improving the utilization rate of cultivation substrates and reducing the consumption of mushroom wood resources.
IV. Main Academic Achievements
Four related academic monographs have been completed, 53 peer-reviewed papers have been published, and 2 master's theses have been supervised for graduate students.
This project has applied its scientific research achievements to rural enterprises and local farmers, promoted the construction of a new socialist countryside, and achieved coordinated development of economic, social and ecological benefits.
