In 2023, there were approximately nine million self-employed people working in the agriculture, forestry, hunting, and fisheries industries in Indonesia, making it the sector with the highest number of self-employed people in the nation. Wholesale and retail trade industry ranked second in that year, with around 8.94 million self-employed people. In total, there were around 32.21 million self-employed people in Indonesia in 2023.
