The foundation species effect of Ephedra californica

A set of field surveys at Panoche-Coalinga Area of Environmental Concern administered by the US Bureau of Land Management examining the relative importance and effect of Ephedra californica on the local plant community. A total of 4 years of repeat plant association surveys were done under this species of shrub and in the open from 2013-2017. The total abundance of all plant species and total number of unique plant species were recorded under the shrub and in the open within a 0.5m quadrat. The size of each shrub was also recorded in metres as height, width, and length (perpendicular to width in same dimension, i.e. second girth estimate for canopy).
