The archipelago comprises 104 islands and rocky reefs, with the smallest having an area of 72 square meters. The larger islands within the archipelago include Auskerry, Burray, Calf of Eday, Calf of Flotta, Cava, Copinsay, Damsay, Eday, Egilsay, Eynhallow, Faray, Fara, Flotta, Gairsay, Graemsay, Helliar Holm, Holm of Faray, Holm of Huip, Holm of Papay, Houy Island, Hoy Island, Inner Holm, Mainland Orkney, Midgarth Island, Muckle Green Holm, North Ronaldsay, Papa Stronsay, Papa Westray, Rousay, Sanday, Sanday, Shapinsay, South Wales Island, Stronsay, Swinney Holm, Switha, Swona, and Westray, among others.
