Expression data of paired human neonatal thymus MSCs vs bone MSCs

Neonatal thymus MSCs and bone derived MSCs have differential abilities to stimulate angiogenesis and invade extracellular matrix. We utilized microarray to identify differentially expressed genes between these two types of MSCs and analyzed this information in the context of the phenotypic differences between these two cell types. MSCs from the thymus and bone were isolated from six neonates and infants undergoing open heart surgery. After isolation and culture, RNA was isolated and hybridized on Affymetrix microarrays. The paired samples provided a control for other confounding factors such as age of donor, health status of donor, and sex of donor.
