Sequencing of 16S rRNA gene amplicons of DNA extracted from New Zealand geothermal soil samples

This is part of a larger study on Chthonomonas calidirosea isolates found in four sites (Tikitere, Te Kopia, Waikite, and Wairakei) in the Taupo Volcanic Zone of New Zealand. C. calidirosea is the type species of class Chthonomonadetes, of the bacterial phylum Armatimonadetes. DNA was extracted from geothermal soil samples collected from these sites and a region of the 16S rRNA gene was amplified with PCR. The amplicons were then sequenced via Ion Torrent PGM.
