Field data of Phlebotomine sand fly trapping in Switzerland, 2009-2016

Set of Phlebotomine sand flies (Diptera: Psychodidae, Phlebotominae) field trapping data collected by light traps and sticky papers at thirty-five sites disttributed over10 cantons of Switzerland, in 2009, 2010, 2011/2012 and 2016. Sand flies were collected mainly in cantons Ticino and Grisons, south to the Alps, with a few specimen collected in canton Vaud, north to the Alps. A total of 603 samplings collected from 38 sites are listed, of which 136 (at 15 sites) are positive for sand flies, with four species observed: <em>Phlebotomus mascittii</em>, <em>Ph. neglectus</em>, <em>Ph. perniciosus </em>and<em> Sergentomyia minuta</em>. Sample were identified by morphology, PCR and sequencing, or MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry.
