SDG 9.b.1 - Proportion of medium and high technology manufacturing value added in total manufacturing value added

This dataset reports the share of Qatar's manufacturing value added generated by medium-high- and high-technology manufacturing activities. It is calculated as the value added of the designated medium- and high-technology industries divided by total manufacturing value added, multiplied by 100. The technology classification is based on research-and-development intensity. A higher share indicates a manufacturing structure with a larger contribution from technology-intensive activities, but it does not directly measure innovation quality or domestic ownership of technology. Qatar's reporting changed from ISIC Revision 3, Section D, through 2013 to ISIC Revision 4, Section C, from 2014. The Qatar Data sheet expands both codes in English and Arabic; comparisons across the 2014 classification transition should be interpreted with care.
