bacterial Community Dynamics of Solous Landfill Leachate Pond

Solous landfill, Lagos, Nigeria is one of the largest municipal landfills in Nigeria and like most landfills in developing countries around the world, is faced with the burden of production of leachate which poses health and environmental risks. The study investigated the seasonal variations in the physicochemical properties and microbial community composition in leachate from the landfill. High-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to investigate seasonal changes in microbial community composition. Samples were collected across four seasons, namelylate rainy (LLD1), early dry (LLD2), late dry (LLD3), and early rainy (LLD4)and analyzed alongside physicochemical parameters.
