Phenotypic and genotypic characterisation of bacterial isolates recovered from catheter-associated urinary tract infections in a UK hospital

Urinary tract infections are the most common type of hospital-acquired infection, up to 80% of which are associated with catheterisation. These infections cost an estimated $2.8bn annually in the United States alone. The present study demonstrates the phenotypic and genotypic characterisation of a panel of catheter associated urinary tract infection isolates from a hospital within the UK between 2015-2019.
