Culex viromes from England and Wales

This study investigates the virome of Culex mosquitoes in the United Kingdom. Populations were collected from 93 sites across England and Wales and analysed using high-throughput sequencing (HTS). A systematic virus discovery pipeline was applied to characterise mosquito-associated viral diversity, including both insect-specific viruses (ISVs) and arbovirus-related lineages. The dataset includes raw sequencing reads and assembled viral genomes from mosquito pools sampled across multiple habitats. These data provide a national-scale baseline of mosquito viromes in the UK and support ongoing arbovirus surveillance and preparedness efforts.
