We utilized host-pathogen dual RNA-sequencing to elucidate the transcriptomes of both Chlamydia trachomatis and the infected HeLa cell during nutritional conditions that induce persistence. Overall design: We examined two different conditions, iron (by chelation with 2,2-bipyridyl) and media-defined tryptophan starvation, under two treatment regimes: one which started at the time of infection, and one which began at 8 hpi to allow for the establishment of a productive infection.
