We studied the microbiome of an elderly 63-year-old PKU patient compared to the microbiome of a control. The object of the study was to identify differences in the gut microbiome. The use of a special phenylalanine-free diet in PKU patients, as well as the patient's age, might have an effect on the gut microbiome's biodiversity.
