Shotgun Metagenomic sequencing of Macaca Mulatta with chronic intermittent diarrhea and healthy control monkeys. MARMOSET

Chronic diarrhea is a common cause of mortality and morbidity in captive rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta). In recent years, many studies have investigated the influence of diet on microbiome in non-human primates (NHP) In this study, for the first time, we used machine learning of the metagenome composition of longitudinal acquired fecal samples of rhesus macaques with chronic intermittent diarrhea and clinically healthy rhesus macaques to differentiate between intestinal microbiome signatures associated with animals having mild to profuse diarrhea and animals with normal stool over the time of two years.
