17 pairs of monozygotic monochorionic twins were recruited from the East Flanders Prospective Twin Survey based on severe birth-weight discordance (>30%). DNA was obtained from saliva samples. Genome-scale DNA methylation profiles were obtained on HumanMethylation450 BeadChip. 8 candidate CpG positions were selected in the association analysis and validated using deep bisulfite sequencing of surrounding amplicons on GS FLX Titanium System.
