Myriospora hilitzeri was originally described from the Czech Republic as A. smaragdula form macrophylla because it had squamules 10 mm wide with 20 apothecia . The species is similar to M. myochroa but has no norstictic acid and has a parathecium 0-30 µm wide vs. up to 90 µm wide in M. myochroa.
