Naming the Zangezur/TRIPP Route: A Corpus of Official Naming Acts in the South Caucasus (2020–2026)

This dataset accompanies a discourse-historical study of the naming contest over the transport link through Armenia's Syunik province, designated in official discourse as the "Zangezur Corridor", "Crossroads of Peace", "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP)", "Aras Corridor", and "Turan Corridor" by different actors between November 2020 and June 2026. The deposit contains a machine-readable corpus of 36 records of official naming acts by Azerbaijani, Armenian, Turkish, American, Iranian, and Russian officials, drawn from interstate agreements, joint declarations, addresses to the UN General Assembly, ministerial press conferences and interviews, foreign ministry statements and briefings, and one parliamentary group speech. Each record lists the date, actor, document type and language, a summary of the naming usage, and the source, with Internet Archive Wayback Machine captures listed alongside live URLs where available. A codebook specifies the unit of analysis (the naming act), the five coding categories of the discourse-historical approach (nomination, predication, argumentation, perspectivisation, intensification/mitigation), and the coding procedure.
