This dataset, titled "Interview Data: Copyright for AI-Generated Artwork – A Comparative and Empirical Study," offers an in-depth qualitative exploration of the complex legal challenges surrounding copyright authorship in the rapidly evolving field of AI-generated artwork. Compiled from nine structured interviews—each featuring six targeted questions—the collection captures nuanced perspectives from both practising artists and computer scientists on the collaborative processes involved in conceptualising, prompting, refining, and claiming authorship over AI-generated artwork. Complementing the transcribed interview data is a curated gallery of vivid AI-generated images produced exclusively through the Midjourney platform, serving as tangible visual artefacts that exemplify the artistic outputs discussed and enable researchers to analyse the aesthetic and technical dimensions of AI creativity firsthand.
