Plant species mapping using airborne remote sensing

The purpose of this project is twofold. First, I will develop a species map for Santa Cruz Island using data from a 2007 flight of the Carnegie Airborne Observatory. I will then use the species map to test theories of ecosystem assembly at different scales - specifically to test the relative importance of niche-driven versus stochastic processes in determining the distribution and abundance of plant species.
