Ship navigation data collected aboard the R/V F.G. Walton Smith cruise WS17121 in the Gulf of Mexico from 2017-04-30 to 2017-05-09

This dataset includes the underway ship navigation data collected aboard the R/V F.G. Walton Smith cruise WS17121 in the Gulf of Mexico from 2017-04-30 to 2017-05-09. Underway and CTD data were collected for 9 days in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico while deploying EM-APEX floats that were instrumented to measure physical and biogeochemical parameters. The expedition started in Gulfport, MS, spent 9 days moving along two parallel deployment lines (including a weather delay), before heading to port in Miami, FL. Included in this dataset are the ship navigation from the R/V Walton Smith cruise from multiple GPS strings included in the navigation data files. Three GPS systems were on board. Therefore, three GPS datasets are included. The most accurate is the POSMV as it uses various sources of input and calculates the position to an accuracy of .5/.6 meters. Gyrocompass data are also included. This cruise is part of the Rolling Deck to Repository (DOI:10.7284/907283) program.
