Here we describe microbial community dynamics in the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary (FGBNMS) after a massive invertebrate mortality event occured in the sancutary. Using 16S rRNA gene sequencing of filtered water samples collected from CTD stations within the FGBNMS, we characterized microbial community membership and structure within the water column to search for evidence of what may have caused the mortality event.
