Global database of factors associated with farmers' decision-making in diversified farming systems

This dataset was developed through a systematic evidence map and comprises extracted information from 354 multivariable regression models reported in 193 peer-reviewed studies published between 1982 and 2023. The database captures quantitative evidence on factors associated with farmers’ decision-making related to diversified farming practices across five stages: awareness, interest, adoption, intensity of adoption, and dis-adoption. Studies span 45 countries across five global regions. Reported factors are harmonised into 14 thematic categories encompassing biophysical, socio-economic, psychological, institutional, and contextual dimensions. By retaining effect estimates and associated statistical information at the factor level, the dataset supports both descriptive evidence mapping and quantitative synthesis of the direction and strength of associations between factors and decision-making stages, enabling comparative and integrative analyses relevant to scaling diversified farming systems.
