Manganese(III) tetrakis(4-benzoic acid) porphyrin chloride (MnTBAP) exhibits well-documented anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. While its therapeutic potential in ameliorating pulmonary hypertension (PH) has been well established, its role in PH-induced atrial fibrillation (AF) remains poorly understood. Overall design: Rats were randomly assigned to four experimental groups: Saline + Vehicle, Monocrotaline (MCT) + Vehicle, and MCT + MnTBAP. The pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) model was established on day 0 via intraperitoneal injection of MCT at a dose of 60 mg/kg. Starting two days prior to MCT administration and continuing until day 28 post-injection, MnTBAP (10 mg/kg) was administered intraperitoneally every other day.Total RNA was isolated with TRIzol (Invitrogen) from heart organs (n=4 per group) at each time point according to manufacturer's instructions.
