Neurons and glial cells that consist central nervous system are differentiated from neural progenitor cells. During neuronal differentiation, a large number of genes change their transcriptional levels, and these changes may be mediated by chromatin modifiers. In this study, we found that the level of Ezh1, a component of Polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2), increases during the differentiation process of neocortical neurons. Here, we are examining the mechanisms of neuronal differentiation with a focus on the role of Ezh1 in changes of transcriptome, epingenetics, and the chromatin state.
