Associating transcriptional activity and micropollutant biotransformation in microbial communities

The goal of the study was to identify positive correlations between the transcriptional activity of specific bacteria and the biotransformation of specific organic micropollutants. Such correlations may offer means to predict the fate of organic micropollutants in various aquatic environments and, where relevant, control it. They can also provide leads for further research aimed at establishing causal links between bacteria and their suspected micrpollutant targets and elucidating biotransformation mechanisms.
