This invention concerns a continuous method and an arrangement for separation of crude tall oil (CTO) from black liquor. The method involves an initial separation within a tank and/or within a centrifugal separator， and processing of the thus separated tall oil soap product by acidulation and/or splitting， followed by further separation， e.g. by centrifugation. The black liquor fraction may be processed for further CTO retrieval， before evaporation and feeding to a recovery boiler.
