Living with a parent in prison: Learning from young people

This is a research report. The aim of this research was to hear directly from children who have experienced parental imprisonment, about what can best assist them. While children of prisoners are frequently perceived using a risk and vulnerability focused lens, this study utilises a strengths approach to centre the voices and lived experience of children; focussing on their experiences of coping, accessing effective support and asking them to share their advice for adults. The study was commissioned by SHINE for Kids and is supported by funding from them.
