Shown is a confocal microscopy image of a living isolated mouse neuron stained for DNA (nucleus, blue)and mitochondria (mitotracker, red, and the synthetic antioxidant XJB-5-131 labeled with BIODIPY-labeled (green). The image is from experiments examining oxidative damage and mitochondrial dysfunction in relation to aging and age-related neurodegenerative diseases including Huntington's disease.
