Palladium-Catalyzed Carbonylative Cross-Coupling of Aryl (Pseudo)halides and Cyclopropanols

An efficient and general method for
the synthesis of 1,4-diketones
has been achieved through the palladium-catalyzed carbonylative cross-coupling
of aryl halides with cyclopropanols. This methodology shows excellent
compatibility with various functional groups and expands the scope
for the synthesis of symmetrical and unsymmetrical 1,4-diketones with
good efficiency. The synthetic utility of the diketones was demonstrated,
and a plausible mechanism was also discussed.
