VPRS 14255 Register of Inward Correspondence (General)

This series consists of the register of inwards correspondence received by the Surveyor-General from persons, offices and organisations other than the Colonial Secretary and the Chief Secretary. Correspondence from the Colonial and Chief Secretary was registered in VPRS 14030 Register of Inward Correspondence (Colonial Secretary 1854 - 1855; Chief Secretary 1855).Details given are the number allocated the piece of correspondence, any reference number on it, the name of the sender and the date, a summary of both the subject matter and the substance of the reply made.Subject matter includes requests for surveys of land and reports on completed or partially completed surveys. Other correspondence relates to the alignments for roads and boundaries, applications for land and for the right to occupy land and enquiries about obtaining land.
