资源简介:

This dataset contains data from a cross-sectional study investigating the relationship between asymmetry of resting scapular position and latent myofascial trigger points (L-MTrPs) in the upper trapezius muscle in asymptomatic adults. Background: Myofascial trigger points and body postural misalignment, including scapular position, can contribute to musculoskeletal pain onset and persistence. However, the relationship in asymptomatic cases remains unclear. Objective: To investigate the relationship between asymmetry of resting scapular position and latent MTrPs in the upper trapezius muscle (UTM) in asymptomatic adults. Methods: Thirty-two asymptomatic adult men (mean age 26.28 ± 1.1 years) participated in this study. Full-body photographs were taken from the posterior view with participants in a resting standing position. The horizontal scapular alignment angle (HSAA) was analyzed from photographs to determine the degree of asymmetry of resting scapular position. Trained assessors identified the presence of latent MTrPs in bilateral upper trapezius muscles. Key Findings: The HSAA was significantly lower in participants with latent MTrPs in the right UTM, indicating greater right scapular depression. Multiple regression analysis revealed that dominant arm and presence of latent MTrPs in the right UTM significantly predicted HSAA values. This dataset includes the following variables for 32 asymptomatic adult male participants: •Subject Number: Participant identification number (1-32) •Age (year): Participant age in years •Height (cm): Participant height in centimeters •Weight (kg): Participant weight in kilograms •Dominant arm: Handedness (1 = right-handed, 0 = left-handed) •Horizontal scapular alignment angle (°): Measured angle indicating scapular asymmetry from posterior photographs •Presence of L-MTrPs in the left upper trapezius muscle: Binary variable (1 = present, 0 = absent) •Presence of L-MTrPs in the right upper trapezius muscle: Binary variable (1 = present, 0 = absent) •Number of L-MTrPs in the left upper trapezius muscle: Count of latent trigger points identified •Number of L-MTrPs in the right upper trapezius muscle: Count of latent trigger points identified
