资源简介:
The Torrens Purchasers Index provides an index of a person(s) becoming owners (including grantees) or lessees of Torrens Title land in New South Wales from the commencement of the Torrens Title system in 1863.The index generally contains an “instrument type” alpha code, the name of the person(s) acquiring land or a lease, the Parish, County or Locality of the acquired land, the nature and reference to the document by which the land or lease was acquired and the reference to Torrens Title for the land or lease acquired.Searching of historical purchaser records prior to 1971 requires reference to the manual book records comprising the Torrens Purchasers Index registers (1863 – 1971). Post 1971, index records are retrieved as part of the “Owner/Lessee Inquiry” search function in the Integrated Titling System (ITS).-1863 to 1900 are handwritten-1901 to 1951 are typewritten-1952 to 1971 are printouts from microfilm taken of original index cardsFrom 1971 to May 2001 the index was held on microfiche. In May 2001 the microfiche records covering 1971 to 2001 were merged into the Integrated Titling System (ITS) and are now held in digital format and are to be retained in agency. The index records covering the period 1971 to May 2001 and held in digital format in the Integrated Titling System (ITS) are retrieved using the Owner/Lessee Inquiry; search function as part of the management of the Register of Land Titles. This function provides for name searches for both current title ownership and historical/previous title ownership using the Purchasers Index records dating back to 1971 that were incorporated into ITS in 2001.The series is arranged chronologically and alphabetically. Up to 1952 the series is in year ranges and then in alphabetical order. From 1952 to 1971 the indexes are broken into a span of 19 years then organised into alphabetical order. These indexes can comprise between 8 and 12 separate books for each span of 19 years.
