资源简介:
The research aimed to develop a typology of road users in the form of a segmentation model, to fully understand the likelihood of successfully changing the behaviour of different types of road user.
Specific objectives of the research were to:
• Determine the behaviour and attitude amongst local road users towards regular journeys in the affected area;
• Establish the nature and extent of potential change in behaviour during periods of disruption;
• Understand the journey planning and routing process;
• Assess how businesses in the area may react to disruption, and understand the options they might consider.
The output was also required to support the development of strategies to drive ‘sticky’ behavioural change, which would allow:
• Some element of demand management for the network;
• Improving efficiency of the available capacity.
This research in particular was to understand in more detail how the West Midlands will experience unprecedented levels of infrastructure construction and up-grades to the transport network, as well as related building and enabling works, as the area prepares to take advantage of new opportunities for economic growth over the next 10 years with the likes of HS2 etc and new rail lines / metro routes being constructed, and how such construction would impact on peoples travel behaviour and patterns over the next few years.
