Importance of sanitizers and the hospital environment in the transmission of Multidrug-Resistant Bacteria - program IMPACTO MR

In this study, considering 41 hospitals across from 16 Brazilian states, we carried out part of the project Importance of sanitizers and the hospital environment in the transmission of Multidrug-Resistant Bacteria - program IMPACTO MR, a program for mapping the sanitizers used by hospitals to clean surfaces along with the profile of environmental microbiome. Using high-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing and resistance genes real-time PCR, we examined bacterial abundance and distribution patterns along with antimicrobial resistance genes presence in both healthcare environment and cleaning products.
