Holiday and travel behaviour in previous years and holiday planning for the current year. Holiday motives and attitudes to travel.
Topics: Number of holiday trips in 2009 lasting 5 days or more, of short holiday trips (2-4 days duration) and of other trips with at least one overnight stay; holiday aspirations and holiday activities (scale); detailed information in the form of an annual scheme on all holiday trips lasting more than five days in 2009, such as. destination, first stay in this destination, duration of trip, form of organisation, means of transport used, type of accommodation, travel companions, number and age of children accompanying, travel expenditure and types of holiday (active holiday, nature holiday, study trip, family holiday, fun holiday, etc.); type of trip and importance of main holiday trip; destinations in selected countries and regions in Europe, non-European Mediterranean, long-distance destinations, overseas and in Germany during the last three years; planned trip to these holiday areas in the next three years or likelihood of such a trip; frequency of selected holiday activities during the last three years (e.g. sporting activities, excursions, resting, winter sports, fishing, diving, wellness, etc.); preferred types of holidays during the last years and types of holidays planned for the future; types of holidays taken during the last three years and types of holidays planned for the future (e.g. fitness holiday, health holiday, cruise, study trip, city trip, cultural trip, round trip, etc.); types of holidays or types of accommodation and means of transport offered in the last three years and planned for the future (holiday flat or holiday home, camping holiday in tent, caravan or camper van, holiday centre or Centre Parc, farm, coach trip, all-inclusive trip); interest in holidays; intention to travel in 2010; internet access; intensity of internet use; internet use for obtaining information and booking holidays; number of holidays in 2007 and 2008 of 5 days or longer in each case.
Demography: sex; age of respondent; marital status of respondent and head of household; respondent is head of household; respondent keeps house; education, occupation and professional position of respondent and head of household; household size; number of persons in household aged 14 years and over; children in household and age of children; net household income; car ownership in household; income of respondent.
Indices: Social class; life stage.
Additionally coded were: Federal state; origin west/east; city size; Nielsen area; weighting factor.
