Canadian Gallup Poll, May 1960, #282

This Gallup poll seeks the opinions of Canaians on leading topics of the day. The primary subjects of this survey are politics and foreign affairs. In addition to asking questions of a political nature dealing specifically with Canada and its politicians, the survey aims to collect the opinions on policies, leaders, and relations with Canada of other countries, mainly the United States. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographic, demographic, and social groups. Topics of interest include: alcohol consumption; American foreign policy; anti Jewish feelings; bomb shelter; C.C.F. party; Conservative party; Diefenbaker's performance as Prime Minister; federal elections; friction between Canada and the United States; Liberal party; liklihood of another world war; liklihood of Nazis returning to power; marriage issues; preferred political parties; the prosperity of Canada; Social Credit party; union membership; United States; voting behaviour; and preparedness in the event of war. Basic demographics variables are also included.
