Data supporting the publication:The Divergent Orbital Forcing of Shallow and Deep Ocean Temperatures over the past 1.5 Myr

We used previously published alkenone unsaturation index-based SST records for synthesize. A total of 7 sea-surface temperature records from 7 Ocean Drilling Project (ODP) sites were carried out to compile. They are respectively from ODP site 982 from the North Atlantic (<em>Lawrence et al., 2009</em>); ODP site 1012 from the North Pacific (<em>Brierley et al., 2009</em>), ODP site 1239 from the East Pacific (<em>Etourneau et al., 2010</em>), ODP site 846 from the East Pacific (<em>Liu &amp; Herbert, 2004; Lawrence et al., 2006</em>), ODP site 1237 from the East Pacific (<em>Dekens et al., 2007</em>), and ODP site 1082 (<em>Etourneau et al., 2009</em>) and ODP site 1090 (<em>Martínez-Garcia et al., 2009, 2010</em>) from the Southern Ocean.
