This project applies DNA-stable isotope probing (DNA-SIP) to investigate how ammonium addition influences methane-assimilating microbial communities in peatland incubations. Peat microcosms were supplied with 13CH4, and DNA was separated by isopycnic ultracentrifugation into gradient fractions. 16S rRNA gene amplicons were sequenced from individual fractions representing treatments without NH4+ addition (E), with NH4+ addition (I), and corresponding replicates (F, J), alongside unfractionated controls. These data provide density-resolved insights into active methane-utilizing taxa and their response to nitrogen enrichment.
