Microbial diversity in constructed wetlands

Constructed wetlands have received increasing attentions due to their performances for N removal, especially in the elimination of ammonia nitrogen. The fluctuations of influent ammonia nitrogen may influence the N removal efficiency in practice, while the effects of fluctuating ammonia nitrogen concentrations on microorganisms responsible for N removal in CWs are poorly understood. In this study, surface flow CWs planting with Myriophyllum(M). aquaticum were established to investigate the influence of different ammonia nitrogen concentrations on the composition, structure, and interactions of microbial community.
