AP-1 signaling modulates cardiac fibroblast stress responses

This study aimed to evaluate the genomic effects of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at the 9p21 locus that are clinically correlated with heart disease. We performed ATAC sequencing on iPSC-derived cardiac fibroblasts and found large differences in AP-1 and GATA family motifs between cells containing the SNPs and those lacking them. Overall design: Three isogenic pairs of iPSCs from two patients were differentiated into cardiac fibroblasts and submitted for ATAC sequencing.
