MUNI-BENCH: Entity-Level Linkage of New York Local Government Finance, Community Energy Use, and Public-Facility Efficiency Projects

MUNI-BENCH is an open entity-year panel for 2016 to 2025 connecting New York local government finances (State Comptroller), community electricity and gas use (NYSERDA Utility Energy Registry), and completed NYPA public-facility efficiency projects, with documented match methods, to give energy planners, municipal stakeholders, researchers and the public easy access to linked information. The archive contains the linked panel (data/processed/panel_2016_2025.csv, 32,640 government-years for 3,264 local governments), the link tables, the quality report, the pipeline code that rebuilds every table from the public sources, and the documentation: CODEBOOK, LIMITATIONS, DECISIONS and VERIFICATION_REPORT. Version 0.1.2 corrects community energy for 2021 to 2024 and adds 2016 to 2020 to the ZIP companion table; finance, NYPA and link values are unchanged. Version 0.1.1 added the data files to the archive. All Coding, hand-checks, decisions and verification were made by the maintainer.
