Studying the stingray transcriptome is challenging due to the lack of published information on these organisms and the unexplored status of the freshwater species of the Potamotrygonidae family, which includes three genera: Paratrygon, Plesiotrygon, and Potamotrygon. The stripe epithelium of P. magdalenae, an endemic species from Colombia (unexplored), was obtained to characterize its transcriptome.
