Data and code for "An empirical study on air transport promoting the coordinated regional economic development: A perspective of spatial interaction"

This panel dataset supports the empirical analysis in the paper An empirical study on air transport promoting the coordinated regional economic development: A perspective of spatial interaction. It covers 21 undirected region-pairs formed by China’s 7 official civil aviation administrative regions over 2008–2024, with 357 balanced region-pair-year observations.
The dataset includes all variables used in the study: a composite Coordinated Regional Economic Development (CRED) index and its sub-dimensions, inter-regional air transport volume (core independent variable), mechanism variables (spatial interaction, factor endowment gaps), and a full set of control variables covering other transportation modes, regional economic attributes and resource endowments. Raw data are sourced from the China Civil Aviation Statistical Yearbook, National Bureau of Statistics of China, EPS China Macroeconomic Database, and Amap API.
The accompanying Stata code enables full replication of all empirical analyses in the paper, including baseline regressions, endogeneity tests, robustness checks, mechanism analyses, and heterogeneity tests.
