Additional Documentation of Historic Property 298 0249 Located on SC Route 6

"In March 2004, the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) contracted with Brockington and Associates, Inc., to conduct additional architectural documentation of historic property 298 0249, located on SC Route 6 in Lexington County. This documentation was undertaken to mitigate the adverse effect to the historic property that will result from a proposed road project. The SCDOT proposes to improve portions of SC Route 6 between Interstate (I-) 26 in Richland County, South Carolina and SC Route 602 in Lexington County, South Carolina. These activities will affect historic properties located in or near the right-of-way of the proposed improvements. Historic properties include sites, buildings, objects, and districts that are listed on or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted an intensive architectural survey of the proposed improvements in March and April 2000 (Harvey 2001). Harvey (2001) recommended eighteen buildings within the SC Route 6 Improvements Project eligible for the NRHP. Site 298 0249 was included in the list of buildings recommended eligible for the NRHP.
