资源简介:
Charcoal and fill samples from levels noted in the Broken Arrow site, 42KA4356, were
analyzed for macrofloral remains. This site is a large cave situated southwest of Lake Powell
on the Utah-Arizona border. Four charcoal samples were recovered from cultural levels within
test areas in the cave, while seven flotation samples were collected from visually distinct levels
with a larger compacted organics level in one of the test areas. Ceramics and sandal styles from
the cave indicate a Basketmaker ll-Basketmaker III occupation, although artifacts taken by
looters and rock art in the cave suggest Early Archaic through Historic period use of the alcove.
Charcoal and organic material recovered from six of these samples was submitted to Beta
Analytic, Inc., for radiocarbon dating. Macrofloral and fiber analysis is used to provide
information concerning plant resources that may have been utilized by the cave occupants.
